Initial condition – Loosen structure and main joints. Missing veneers in several places. Two round legs missing also. Numerous cracks and tears especially on the edges and the veneers. Loosen profiled ledge, partly affected by wood-worms. Surface finish damaged by debris and bad handling. Brass parts affected by strong oxidation. One alabaster ball missing as well as the wooden cover of the clock mechanism.

The restoration process – Dismounting of the object. Cleaning of the joints and regluing of the disrupt parts. Fixing the veneers with the glue and complementing of the missing parts. Petrification of the damaged spots. Replacement of the surface finish by a new one using hand French polishing. Gradual gluing of the whole object together. Cleaning of the alabaster parts, making of the missing alabaster ball and the wooden cover. Final completion.
