Clocks
Initial condition – Loosen structure and main joints. Some wooden pieces of the clock cabinet are missing. Cracks on the base and the drum at the top. Alabaster columns completely loosen. Surface finish ruined by debris and secondary re-paintings. Strong oxidation on the brass fitting, with some missing pieces. Other missing pieces include one alabaster column, bases for the columns, two small alabaster vases, pendulum, front glass and a key for the clock mechanism.
The restoration process – Dismounting of the object. Cleaning of the joints and the alabaster columns. Fixing of the cracks and tears, making of the missing wooden parts of the cabinet and parts of the brass fitting followed by its cleaning when complete. Completion of the alabaster parts and putting them into their original places. Replacement of the surface finish by a new one using hand French polishing. Cleaning and fixing of the clock mechanism, making of new pendulum, key and front glass. Final gluing together.
