Inlaid Lyre-base Table – Kostelec nad Orlicí Chateau 1835

Initial condition – Loosen structure and main joints. Unstable main board. A large crack on one of the legs affecting the whole structure. Some areas with missing veneer were broken up. Missing spots on the inlaid footrest. The surface was completely ruined by debris and mechanical damages.

The restoration process – Dismounting of the object including the structure of the drawer. Cleaning of the joints and gradual gluing of the structures. Mounting of the vennered areas and repairing of the inlays which fell out. Complement of missing venners. Inserting a hinge into the broken leg. Removal of the damaged surface finish and application of a new one by hand French polishing. Assembly of the table a final polishing. The inside of the drawer waxed.
